Each year The Economist Magazine publishes its glass ceiling index, which measures the economic travails of working women across the world. The index weighs gender equality in ten different dimensions, such as participation in higher education, involvement in the work force, gender wage gap, child-care costs and share of senior managers who are women. The Nordic countries are frontrunners; leading the world in cracking the glass ceiling.
